Chance: The First Five Demos

Bass guitar tab has become a very popular method of writing bass music. With this tool you can learn to play bass music fast without getting bogged down in a lot of unnecessary theoretical stuff.

The bass player's role is just to keep time. It is very simple. A lot like bass players. Keeping time is done by playing a 'bassline' which is usually a rhythmic' sequence of notes. The bass player unites the rhythmic playing of the drummer with the chords and melodies played by the lead guitar. Does this take talent? Yes it does. The bass guitar player is the guy who turns off his brain and becomes one with the music. He then turns his brain back on and assumes the mantle of the designated driver for the rest of the band.

The bass guitar tab gives the guitarist written directions on what to play to give the bass line to a piece of music. Tablature is a written representation of the strings of the guitar using numbers to show the frets. If you want to learn the bass guitar quickly tab is the way to go. It is easy to pick up and to remember, and it enables you to learn very quickly the riffs and phrases you need to give your group's music that something extra.

A bass guitar tab is a picture of the fretboard which can be drawn using Notepad on your computer or by hand. The frets are numbered on lines representing the guitar strings. If you have a four string bass, the upper string is the G string, next the D string, the A string, and the E string. The numbers below the lines are the frets where the notes are played. If there is zero below the line it means the open string is played. A chord is represented in bass guitar tabs by two numbers, one above the other. Most bass guitar tabs contain a legend which explains any unfamiliar terms.

The internet is by far the best source for bass guitar tabs. Just do a Google search and you will have more material than you will ever need. All you have to do is learn and practice. Learn and practice your favorite songs first. Bass guitar is not a musical instrument you can approach without passion. Bass guitar riffs can be learnt from tab books but should be played from the heart.

Customer Review: A good album with excellent bonuses
At this price you have to really like Coldplay. This is not their best album but great nonetheless. I will always enjoy Parachutes the most. This edition of X&Y includes the videos for "Fix You," "Speed of Sound," "The Hardest Part," and "Talk". It also includes two exclusive B-sides: "Setting Sun" and "Gravity". "Setting Sun" is actually a very good song. It's a shame it doesn't get more recognition. Did I mention the songs come in DVD-audio? Overall, this is a must-have for any hardcore Coldplay fan. All others can pass.
Customer Review: Best ever
This is my favorite CD ... I have listened to it over a 100 times! I am not tired of it. Great music!!!

Title: Dead Man

Date of Release: May 26, 1995

Directed and Written: Jim Jarmusch

Genre: Drama, Western

Main Characters: Johnny Depp, Gary Farmer, Lance Henriksen, Michael Wincott and John Hurt.

SUMMARY:

William Blake who has received a letter to work as an accountant in a town of Machine begins his journey to that town but as he arrives one month later he can not get his dreams. In the first night of his arrival he meet a beautiful girl and as William get wounded by the girl's ex-fianc he begins his real journey from ugliness to perfection by the guidance of an Indian who is really the God's angel helping him to become pure in the world of limbo.

ANALYSIS:

"There is no death, only a change of worlds."

Seattle Suquamish chief

Historically the story of" Dead Man" took place during the period of west movement, when American settlers tried to remove all the obstacles on a way to west. Event they killed many indian children, Women and men who were Native Americans in their invasion toward the west lands. Jarmusch in "Dead Man" tends to clear all the images pictured about the savage indians and civilized whites in Hollywood.

William Blake begins his journey by train, the first machine which has been made by man. You may guess that the journey is from everything to nothing but actually this is a road from nothing to everything. Train as a symbol of humane development and access to technology has been used to be a symbol of the world of machine. The cruel and wild world which is able to burn and destroy human beings like the train kiln which tends to burn a man who is filling it with coal.

Train carries passengers toward the west where men prefer to kill the symbols of nature not on the back of their horses but from the inside of the train,

The sequence of William's arrival to the town by emphasizing on the board of town of machine standing close to the symbol of virgin nature, cactus, is a notable example of the reality in the west and whites invasion.

Williams with many dreams enters to the town allover gray, lifeless and dead. Actually the sequence of town imposes wilderness, corruption and immorality. As a result William, a person who has entered to hell instead of paradise, goes to cabaret where we find him alone in medium shot among the crowd.

In the first night of his arrival he seeks calmness in the arms of a beautiful girl who is a symbol of beauty and fineness in the world of wilderness. A beautiful girl who shows her kindness by offering her paper flowers and her body to William but so pity that in the marsh whatever the earth be fertile it can only create paper flowers. From that first night William begins his journey to perfection when he gets wounded by the bullet purified and passed through the heart of love. In the next sequence Jarmusch draws a picture of Williams who open his eyes and sees nobody by the use of fade-in technique.

Through watching this movie, through each fade-in, we enter to the world of limbo, an interval between death and resurrection among all wildernesses in the world of machine; and with each fade-out we go through the new window to the world of ugliness.

Nobody is an angle who has been appointed to guide William on the way to perfection. Nobody believes that to a quest of vision a man must undergo mortification. He takes William's glasses to remind him that he should close his earthly eyes and open his heart to the world of limbo. In the other sequence, nobody asks William to go and meet three gays reading the Holy Book to teach him, that the appearance of actions are not important but the soul of actions.

"Dead man" is divided into to types of motion: slow motion and fast motion.

From the initial sequence to the sequence in which William gets wounded, pictures have a fast motion but afterward we face with a slow motion compatible to the world of death and limbo that prepare William for the final flight.

"Dead man" visual effects and black and white pictures have been chosen wisely to introduce the world of death and limbo to audiences who have no experience about it. It is obvious that if you be unfamiliar with an entity, you can not imagine it clearly colored with beautiful colors. Jarmusch has used the gray filter to draw a picture of William's journey to the white world of purity.

Although many of the critiques believe that the film music is so influential but I think this good music made by Phill Young, can be considered as a weak point. The first reason is excess to the use of music in all of the sequences. As William goes toward perfection, the use of music not only decreases but also continuously increases. For example, in a sequence that William finds a dead deer and sleeps near it on the ground, Young uses the musical instruments instead of the sounds of nature. The other reason is that it would be better if Young used a single melody or the other musical instrument instead of electronic guitar which extremely produces the sound of the savage world of machines.

A number of classical and modern composers have believed in a direct correlation between notes of the musical scale and colors. Classical and modern composers fond of relating colors to their music include Liszt, Beethoven, Schubert and Rimsky-Korsakoff. Liszt described his dramatic intentions for his music with decorative phrases: "More pink here;" "This is too black;" "I want it all azure". Beethoven is reported to have referred to B minor as the black key. Schubert is said to have compared the E minor key to "a maiden robed in white and with a rose-red bow on her breast". And Rimsky-Korsakoff associated the color of sunlight with the key of C major and a strawberry red with the note F sharp.

A. Wallace Rimington (1854-1918) was a prominent instrument inventor, writer and artist in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Rimington wrote extensively on the analogy between color and sound in his book Colour-Music: The Art of Mobile Color, published in 1911. Rimington, like a number of other theorists, constructed a scale of direct color-music analogies. Most importantly, Rimington set forth and thoroughly discussed what he considered to be the major points of resemblance between color and music.

In the first place, Rimington begins, both color and sound are produced by vibrations that act upon the eye and ear respectively. Secondly, both color and music are limited to particular ranges of visible or audible vibrations. Third, both create their effects through changeable levels of harmony and discord. Fourth, both tints and notes give pleasure or distress to the audience through a variety of combinations and sequences. Fifth, both color and music can also be combined with other art forms for a heightened experience. Sixth, rhythm can be used to add interest in both artistic and musical compositions.

Finally, changes in dynamics can be created in color through increases in the strength of the hue. This is similar to the potential for increasing tone strength through volume changes in music. Many of Rimington's ideas were not new, as these were probably some of the very issues pondered by the Greeks in ancient days as well as by alchemists, mystics and philosophers throughout history.

Phenomenon

This is the ultimate critical review of Coldplay on record, on stage and on screen. In the space of just three amazing albums Coldplay have been transformed from unknowns to international superstars. Drawing on archive film and interviews with the band a team of leading music critics and working musicians reviews and assesses the music of Coldplay to reveal the secrets behind the Coldplay phenomenon. The Coldplay Phenomenon was made with complete editorial freedom. This film is not authorised, approved by or associated with Coldplay. The result is the most hard hitting and frank review of the personalities, work and music of Coldplay ever produced.
Customer Review: Phenomenon / Coldplay DVD
I bought this as a birthday gift for a huge coldplay fan, watched it with him, and was extremely disappointed that I can't return it. This is not a concert DVD. It is a "review." There are several featured songs on the DVD, but not one of them is played in its entirety without being interrupted by a "commentator." The "reviews" are well done, but in hindsight, I should have rented this before buying it.

This year's Pulse Fringe Festival in Ipswich promises to be the biggest yet, with over thirty productions from across the country performing over the course of three weeks in venues around Ipswich. Art, music, dance and theatre all combine for this three week festival extravaganza! Here's the inside scoop on some of the productions you can catch in 2008.

From 29th of May to the 14th of June, at venues throughout town, over thirty productions will be featured. These shows range from the comic to the tragic, from poets to adult puppet comedy, and include jazz, dance, and a Nightmare Cafe. Many of these shows are premiere productions, and many will be headed from the East of Anglia to the heart of Edinburgh for the Festival Fringe in August.

Alongside the usual high quality shows, this year's Pulse goers will get the opportunity to participate in the development of some of the UK's most exciting new theatre. 2008's festival will open with Analogue's new work in development, Beachy Head. Having seen this company's show last year, Mile End, which was part of last year's Pulse Pick of The Fringe shows in the Autumn '07 season, I can safely say that you'll definitely appreciate this company's exciting and innovative style.

Another new strand of work for Pulse is the collaboration on Visual Arts work with Town Hall Galleries to present the most exciting new and emerging work from across the region and beyond. For those with more eclectic tastes, it may be worth checking out "hac". It's described as a 'hacked computer programs shrieking and spewing out their internal circuits." It should be interesting, to say the least.

There are so many theatre companies brand new to PULSE and some returning favourites too, a combination that's sure to light up the cultural scene in Ipswich over the festival. The chance to catch some rising stars is at your fingertips in the month of June, as Pulse events take place all month long. If you're new to PULSE - or a "returning favourite" be sure to get your tickets booked and while you're at it, take some risks and book for something that you wouldn't usually!

Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine - Homecoming Concert

Customer Review: Homecoming Concert One More Time...
This is the concert where I fell in love with Gloria and the MSM. The music is classic and the performance brings me back to my happy teen years. I have played the video at least once/week for the last 15 years and it never fails to make me feel good. Gloria's outfits are very sexy and alot of fun to look at. From the thigh boots and tight body outfit it to the chaps wearing biker chick look she oozes Sex Appeal. Hoping some day it'll be on DVD and re-released as a Classic. Joanne
Customer Review: Excellente (y Caliente?)
This is a classic concert. And I agree that it should be released on DVD. "Words Get in the Way" performed accousticly with John and Jorge on guitars, "FANTASTIC". Or how about Gloria looking "Caliente" wearing jeans covered by some leather cowboy stuff. Next year I went to the concert in Rotterdam, but she didn't wear the outfit. Hahahha. Should have asked my money back. No, seriously. This tape is EXCELLENTE (Y CALIENTE?).

School fashion shows can be quite fun if done properly. If done the wrong way, however, it could end up being one boring affair which is only occasionally enlivened by the people laughing at a humiliated model. What you need are some tips to help you.

1) Think of a theme When putting up a school fashion show, it is always helpful if you use a theme. A theme gives a fashion show a sense of organization and people would be able to relate the fashion to the theme. There are various types of themes to choose from:

a) Season Basing your school fashion show on the season is always popular. You could design and model various outfits that correspond with the time of year. This would also give you an idea of how to decorate the venue. Basing your school fashion show on a season can help you unleash your creativity and make your brain cells work. How can you balance the freedom of creativity with the confinement of the theme? This will definitely help you improve your skills.

b) Literature Another great idea for a theme is literature. You should think about basing your school fashion show on a great piece of literature. How about basing it on the book The Great Gatsby? Ever tried creating fashion pieces for Frodo? This can be fun as you will be bringing the visions of authors to life. Basing your school fashion show on a piece of literature can also be a bit easier than other themes since most authors actually have pretty detailed descriptions of the clothes their character wear. This is especially true for fantasy novels. Cloaks, anyone?

2) Music The music sets the mood for the whole fashion show. It strikes the subconscious of the watchers and thus, determines how much attention they will be paying your school fashion show. This means, of course, that you need to choose the correct sounds to accompany your school fashion show.

You need to choose music that grabs the attention of the spectators enough to mesmerize them. However, you do not want the music to distract the spectators from the school fashion show. The best type of music to use would be instrumental. This is because instrumental music can set the mood for the show without distracting the viewers with familiar lyrics.

3) Lighting Proper lighting effects are always essential if you want to have a great school fashion show. Together with the background music, the lighting effects give the audience a general emotion to feel. How do you want them to react when they see a certain ensemble? You can make them react as you want them by simply combining light and sound.

4) Spontaneity Students hate predictability. Because of this, the best thing that your school fashion show could have is a surprise. You need to show your students something unexpected and completely new. In doing so, you will be able to grab their attentions and keep it. By being spontaneous, you will keep spectators guessing as to what will come next. This will keep their eyes on the school fashion show and off their watches and mobile phones. If you can make the audience forget about the gadgets on their pockets, then you would know that your school fashion show rocks!

1. Association

People need to associate with your music to something they know before they listen to anything, yet alone download anything. So make sure that you actually specify what you music sounds like. This is a fantastic way to get the "mental image download audience". By saying: "Tiesto sounding music to make your butt shake. Click here to dance for free." Is an extremely good mental image ticking all the downloaders boxes. 1. They are into that style of music, and 2. Its free. You are putting up mental images of kicking music because you have associated it with kicking artists and descriptive words.

2. Artist Pages

You have to know your audience for this to work. Hence doing prep work before you even start building a web site. Ask yourself, who actually is your audience? if you have created trance tracks you need to be building pages designed to attract trance listeners. A great way of doing this, but getting targeted downloaders is to make pages that review trance artists. If you list the "best trance artists" and then have a page dedicated to profiling each one, then you are netting a wide but targeted audience who likes trance. Then at the bottom of each page link to your own songs.

3. Placement

This is an area where I have done extensive research. First off, you need to figure out "what is your goal". Be realistic. If it is to get an album deal, then it means hard work, but if your goal is to spread your music far and wide then the actual placement of your songs on your pages will make a huge difference to downloads. If your songs are more than a few clicks away then you will not get that download.

If they are 1 click away then you will get a much better response rate. 1 click away downloads are only available if you have a nav bar that says 1. free music, 2.links on other pages that link directly to your music download page (not many people jump straight into your homepage, most will jump away from it as most traffic generated is search engine led) that state there is free music to listen to.

4. Offer a download

This may seem pretty insane, but it is strange how many people don't offer this. It is mainly because they don't say that people can download their tracks or have them tucked away from public view. Or...my personal bug bear...pay to download. I am not going into that, but all I am saying is that don't get people to pay for your tracks. You are supposed to be promoting your tracks- so don't put up a cash barrier. Offer a free album download to newsletter subscribers. This offers to spread your tracks and increases your subscriber base at the same time.

5. Pre-sell

It may sound strange, but getting the download is all to do with selling, even though you are offering something for free. You see, point 2 in combination with point 3 will get the most recognition from downloaders because they are wanting to download your song. If you go onto a site with reams of MP3s, unless you know the artist or have a love of their music them then it makes no sense to download anything- what on earth are you downloading? IamHere.mp3- what is that!?

We must realise that downloaders have a vast choice out there, so we must make their site visit pleasurable, and easy to get what they want. Having flash and "in your face" animations seem cool, but they don't really add to your pre-sell, they just annoy and don't lead the downloader to what they want.

So to increase your downloads, you must always think of pre-selling. This can be simple as putting a streaming link on your page, playing the track when someone comes onto the site (beware download rates).

Even putting a brief description with the track (key word= descriptive/ relevant/ see point 1) and even asking to rate your music (you can see then what people like and dislike- an easy tool to modify your future music creations. You could even put remixes of various artist tracks (having a page per song to get better ranking in search engines and to attract the targeted audience).

Describe what you have done, get interviews from like themed artists, appear on other artists sites...Offer something for the downloader.
